The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) recommends you do a roof inspection at least two times a year, the best times being in the spring and fall.

What should you look for when you inspect your roof?

The best place to start is in your attic. Look for places where the roof deck is sagging Signs of water damage or leaking Dark spots Outside light showing through the roof
On the outside of the roof, check for: Damaged flashing Cracked, torn, bald or missing shingles Loose material or wear around chimneys, vents, pipes Excessive amount of shingle granules (they look like large grains of sand) in the gutters -- this is a sign of advanced wear Curling Blistering Buckling Signs of moisture, algae growth, rot or mold

This is considered a major repair of your roof system. Roof restoration can significantly extend the lifecycle of your roof by completely refurbishing the entire roof.
